A quiet week leads June in home video.
12 Angry Men – Sidney Lumet’s iconic debut marked the birth of a talent who would continue to create wonderful movies up until his finale Before The Devil Knows You’re Dead fifty years later. Criterion released the film in HD in the US, here’s hoping this is the same transfer.
Flight – This Denzel Washington vehicle marks Robert Zemeckis’ return to live-action filmmaking. It’s a longwinded affair, but mostly quite worthwhile. Check out our complete review here.
Wreck-It-Ralph – Disney gives video-games the Toy Story treatment, with mixed results. The first act is wonderful, as is the supporting short, Paperman, but Wreck-It-Ralph loses it’s way when the narrative takes over the pitch-perfect atmosphere. Check out our full review here.
Bullet To The Head – Like Flight, Bullet To The Head marks the return to the fore of one of genre filmmaking’s figureheads. Walter Hill, who helped to define the American cinema of the 1970s and 80s with films such as Streets Of Fire and The Warriors teams up with another relic of an age gone by to present this old-fashioned action flick.
