Monday Blu(e)s And DVD

The best film of 2013 is out on Blu-ray and DVD this week.

Disc Of The Week

To The Wonder – Terrence Malick’s second film in as many years marks, hyperbole withstanding, the best that cinema has to offer this year to date.

Underground – Anthony Asquith’s Underground is a film we hold close to our hearts here at Hope Lies at 24 Frames Per Second. We recently held a screening of the film as a part of our 16 Frames imprint, which suggests the esteem with which we hold the movie.

Spider Baby – This film’s reputation precedes it. It’s unrelated to the Marvel property. We think.

91BT4Rc7MKL._SL1500_Weird Adventures – Most notable for featuring the final Powell and Pressburger collaboration, The Boy Who Turned Yellow, this collection of children’s films from the BFI is a solid release.

No – We missed Chilean filmmaker Pablo Larraín’s well-received tale of propaganda whence it reached theatres earlier this year, but look forward to belatedly discovering it now. Shame it’s DVD-only.
