It’s the time of year, when Winter sets in and thoughts turn to the macabre.
Taking place within the grand ruins of Kirkstall Abbey, Leeds, it’s difficult to think of a more suitable venue for 4 days of gothic-tinged cinema than the venue afforded next weeks Gothic Film Festival. Eureka’s newly restored Nosferatu opens up proceedings, with live musical accompaniment from Neil Brand, on an evening which sees it playing back to back with Jacques Tourneur’s Night Of The Demon, while the following days see such seasonal gems as Michael Reeves’ Witchfinder General and James Whale’s Bride Of Frankenstein, while the undoubted highlight looks set to be an accompanied rendition of Carl Th. Dreyer’s The Passion Of Joan Of Arc.
The Gothic Film Festival runs October 31st through November 3rd. You can find out more information on their website, which you can find by clicking here.
