Serpico and Roma. A pair of great discs from Eureka’s Masters Of Cinema line stand out this week. A worthy UK edition of Sidney Lumet’s Serpico has been a long time coming, and this doesn’t disappoint. Extras ported from the US disc are accompanied by the usual high quality contextual notes. Roma sees the label tackle Federico Fellini for the third time.

Phantom Of The Paradise and The Killers. A pair of fantastic release from Arrow, with Brian De Palma’s Phantom Of The Paradise coming from their Arrow Video imprint and Don Siegel’s The Killers, which is on the revived Arrow Academy line. Both are packed to the rafters with new and exclusive extra content, including an impressive hour long chat between Guillermo Del Toro and Phantom Of The Paradise star Paul Williams. We’ll be taking a more in-depth look at the Phantom Of The Paradise disc later in the week.

Classe Tous Risques. In the same year the he broke through to international success with Jean-Luc Godard’s Breathless, Jean-Paul Belmondo appeared in Claude Sautet’sĀ Classe Tous Risques, a film that was somewhat overlooked at the time of it’s release but has aged really well.

Thor – The Dark World. The latest Marvel Studio’s outing is a mixed bag, but ultimately a worthy couple of well spent hours thanks to the fantastic chemistry between the lead players. Extras are plentiful, with a highlight being the new short film, Hail To The King, which examines the fate of Trevor Slattery, the hapless stooge at the centre of Iron Man 3. Check out our review of the film here.

  1. Roma is so great! I call it Fellini’s 2001 šŸ™‚
I’m still unsure about Thor. Should I check it out? I’d only be doing it for Chris and Natalie, but mostly Natalie šŸ˜‰ I don’t know is it worth it just for that? I don’t care for all the action/fantasy stuff..
