It’s a thoroughly underwhelming week for new releases. Next week is fantastic though.
Cat People. Unbelievably, Val Lewton’s seminal horror movie is only now making it’s DVD debut! While we’re firmly in the “The Schrader Film Is BetteR” camp, that isn’t to say that Cat People isn’t fully deserving of it’s classic status.
Awards Bait Round-Up. Okay, so we’re perhaps being a little unfair in including Philomena here, but even with that in mind the appeal was lost on us.
Don Jon. Opinion fell straight down the middle on Joseph Gordon Levitt’s tale of addiction.
The Big Picture. Shamefully, we’ve yet to see Rithy Panh’s well-regarded film.
